Initially based on the Natural Step, our vision was formed over several meetings, getting perspectives from religious, civic groups as well as environmental groups.
We tried to answer... What is a “sustainable community”?
What would a sustainable Mt Airy look like?
Read our vision...
...is a coalition of residents, businesses, congregations, and community groups dedicated to creating a thriving, walkable, urban community in Mt. Airy, and the greater Northwest of Philadelphia, PA.
After being listed among the nation's top 10 urban eco-neighborhoods by Natural Home magazine in Feb '07, several of us were drawn to make Mt Airy more of what it already is. Thus the birth of Sustainable Mt Airy.
Some of our recent projects are:
Trolley Car Diner’s placemat's showcasing transit options in and around Mt Airy. See it here, but really, it's even better in print. Check it out at the Diner! Fall 2007 Betsy Teutsch & Meenal Raval.
Mt Airy Learning Tree’s Fall 2007 catalog highlighted classes that promote sustainable behavior and learning. Contact Steve Weinberg or Jonna Naylor with ideas for future classes.
Friday May 9th, 2008 - Living the Good Life in Northwest Philadelphia: Creating a Community for All Ages.
